Skype Protocol Cracked

A 10 person company of Chinese engineers claim they have reverse engineered the protocol used for Skype Internet phone calls.By cracking the Skype protocol, the company claims it can also block Skype voice traffic. "They could literally turn the lights off on Skype in China very, very quickly," said Paglee, the CEO of a VoIP company. Read more

VoIP is cheap but vulnerable to hackers

VoIP is Voice Over Internet Protocol. It helps users make phone calls over the internet.
VoIP is vulnerable to hackers too. Due to this privacy cannot be guaranteed. However, extensive encryption is a good thing to do, but this will lead to slow down of the efficiency of networks. Another useful defense tactic is to use VLANs “whenever possible to separate traffic".
